Education Grievance Policy

1. Grievance policy

Nellie Health is committed to ensuring our educational activities are inclusive, respectful, and adhere to the highest standards. As such, we take all complaints seriously whether they are in relation to speakers, educational activity content, or the continuing education program. We will have our grievance statement posted on our website (see attached), which includes details of how grievances will be handled and key points of contact. At the close of each educational activity participants will be reminded of how to complete the program evaluation and where to access the grievance process. Below is the specific text provided regarding the process:

2. Actions

When a participant files a grievance and expects action on the complaint, the following actions will be taken.

1. If the grievance concerns a speaker, the content presented by the speaker, or the style of presentation, the individual filing the grievance will be asked to put their comments in written format. The CE Chair will then pass on the comments to the speaker, assuring the confidentiality of the grieved individual. An alternate will be assigned if the CE Chair is the presenter in question.

2. If the grievance concerns an educational offering (i.e., training, workshop or seminar), its content, level of presentation, or the facilities in which the workshop was offered, the Nellie CEO will mediate and will be the final arbitrator. If the participant requests action, the Nellie CEO will coordinate with Nellie Health staff to:

a) attempt to move the participant to another educational offering or
b) provide a credit for a subsequent year's educational offering or
c) provide a partial or full refund of the educational offering fee.

Actions 2b and 2c will require a written note, documenting the grievance and request for credit or refund, for record keeping purposes. The note need not be signed by the grieved individual.

3. If the grievance concerns Nellie Health CE program, in a specific regard, the CE Chair will attempt to arbitrate.
