What you are going to learn

A few more words about this course

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a well-established treatment for PTSD and a range of co-occurring conditions. This has resulted in it being identified as a front-line treatment for PTSD in treatment guideline world wide.

In this live virtual workshop you will learn how the theory underlying CPT and
the related interventions are applicable to a range of conditions that can result from traumatic stress or a range of stressors. In addition, the use of CPT as a well-packaged CBT for a range of conditions that might not be precipitated by stress or trauma will be introduced. Your general case conceptualization skills will be strengthened by your deepened understanding of the model.

Case examples, live demonstrations, and experiential exercises will be used to bring your learning to life and give your concrete skills to translate directly into your practice.

You will learn:

  • The rationale for using CPT as a transdiagnostic treatment
  • An expanded model of the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral mechanisms underlying CPT
  • How these mechanisms translate into specific interventions within CPT to treat a range of disorders resulting from stress and trauma
  • How CPT can be used as a well-packaged treatment protocol for conditions not directly related to stress or trauma
